Our projects change the narrative of how people view communities across Gary Indiana, fostering a sense of pride in both participant and resident. When youth participate, they are exposed to valuable experiences that will support their social development and financial stability.
Leadership Training - Youth who participate are groomed into leadership roles preparing them for growth and development personally and professionally.
Money Management - We are partnering with additional agencies to create six-week training period that engages youth understanding the value of money. It is a tool that when property used, can create generational wealth. All too often, people of color live for the moment creating a cycle of poverty. We want to teach our children that financial stewardship can change how they live, and how their children's children can live.
Character Development - At its core, success is a combination of consistency and commitment. The GCP leaders take pride in their community service and teach youth this same principle. Skill is developed over time which is why consistency is a key factor in success. When youth practice these behaviors while maintaining these properties, they gain valuable skills. When they apply these principles in life, they are destined to become successful in whatever they choose to do!
Economic Empowerment - Youth have the opportunity to earn weekly stipends throughout the summer. Raises are earned every 4 weeks, allowing youth to earn up to $20 per hour.
