COMMUNITY IS AN IMPORTANT FACTOR IN HEALTH OUTCOMES
WE IMPROVE THE ENVIRONMENT | PROVIDE ECONOMIC RELIEF FOR YOUTH
WE IMPROVE THE ENVIRONMENT | PROVIDE ECONOMIC RELIEF FOR YOUTH

WHAT ARE SDOH?
- Social determinants of health (SDOH) are non-medical factors affecting health, like socioeconomic status, and geographic location.
- Addressing SDOH can enhance health and lead to better outcomes.
-
BLIGHTED CONDITIONS CAUSE
- Safety Hazards - Abandoned properties attract skullduggery and invite trash and debris dumping
- Mental Health Trauma - Polluted communities have an impact on how we see ourselves and others
- Social Problems - Increased crime and deterioration in quality of life
- Economic Impact - Disinvestment in neighborhoods, reduced property values, and eroded housing markets
OUR DEMOGRAPHIC
We engage youth ages 13 - 18 in community projects that restore the environment. Our objective is to foster individual development through elements of exposure, engagement, and elevation. Youth learn that success in life is created from their sustained efforts over a long period of time. This includes creating good work habits, developing leadership skills, and learning how to work productively within a team. In exchange, youth earn raises every 4 weeks and have opportunities to lead project teams to hone their skills.

“For those who want to change the world, the first step is they must get proximate to the people who are suffering, who are being excluded, who are being disfavored and who are being incarcerated. We cannot change the world from a distance.”
