“For those who want to change the world, the first step is they must get proximate to the people who are suffering, who are being excluded, who are being disfavored and who are being incarcerated. We cannot change the world from a distance.”
-Bryan Stevenson

Shhh..It's a surprise for our seniors!

This Mother’s Day, Gary Community Partnership is hosting a Build‑A‑Bouquet Workshop to deliver bouquets and heartfelt cards to seniors in our community and we’re inviting community partners to join us in making it special!

In support of Wish of a Lifetime from AARP’s Cupid’s Crew, this event is about more than flowers. It’s about reminding our seniors that they are valued, loved, and remembered not just one day a year, but always! ❤️
We’re seeking partners to support this effort through:
✨ Sponsorship or in‑kind donations - This event is not sponsored externally. Any support is great appreciated but not required.
✨ Volunteers to help build bouquets - We need our community members, church groups, businesses, and neighbors to help us create arrangements!
✨ Sharing resources, flowers, or supplies - Contact us to see how we can work collectively!
✨ Volunteers to help deliver bouquets - Join our teams as we distribute the bouquets across senior care facilities!

Your partnership will help create joyful moments for seniors and supports a national mission to grant wishes that bring hope and connection to older adults who need it most.
🤝 Interested in partnering with us?
📩 Send us a DM or email [email protected]

Let’s build bouquets, build community, and spread love together.

Floral Garden CSA Program

Through the generosity of Methodist Hospitals, GCP developed a community garden. With the support of our community parters, we are developing a Horticulture Therapy Garden that serves a multitude of age demographics within the city. See our journey.

Rees Park Adoption

In 2018 GCP adopted Rees Park with the support of The Legacy Foundation, and a city sponsored Love Your Block grant, with a goal of restoring the facility through GCP led community engagement projects.  We faithfully stewarded this abandoned resource until the city took ownership of it in 2025.  See our transformation.

Neighborhood Revitalization Program

GCP established a neighborhood revitalization program to provide youth with an opportunity to invest time and energy back into their community with the return of skills development and financial empowerment.

WHAT ARE SDOH?
  1. Social determinants of health (SDOH) are non-medical factors affecting health, like socioeconomic status, and geographic location.
  2. Addressing SDOH can enhance health and lead to better outcomes.

BLIGHTED CONDITIONS CAUSE
  • Safety Hazards - Abandoned properties attract skullduggery and invite trash and debris dumping
  • Mental Health Trauma - Polluted communities have an impact on how we see ourselves and others
  • Social Problems - Increased crime and deterioration in quality of life
  • Economic Impact - Disinvestment in neighborhoods, reduced property values, and eroded housing markets

OUR DEMOGRAPHIC
We engage youth and adolescent ages 13 - 18 in community projects that restore the environment.  Our objective is to foster individual development through elements of exposure, engagement, and elevation.  Youth learn through mentored work relationships that success in life is created from sustained efforts to grow over a long period of time.  This includes creating good work habits, developing leadership skills, and learning how to work productively within a team.  In their development, youth earn raises every 5 weeks, learn various leadership techniques, develop situational awareness, and ultimately establish behaviors that will provide foundational tools necessary for success in all aspects of life.
